Description:
In conjunction with the National Urban Search and Rescue Conference, a Type 1 Certification for eligible
Live Find and Human Remains Detection teams will be offered. This test is SUSAR sanctioned and EMAC
and EMAP compliant. This is not a FEMA Certification and will not allow you to deploy with a FEMA Task
Force.
Applications must be completed in full and submitted for approval. After confirmation of eligibility and
status with the task force, you will be notified as to whether you have obtained a testing slot. There are no
fees associated with the test. Testing teams will be responsible for all transportation and lodging
arrangements and costs.
If open slots are available we will offer spaces for Certification Preparation (CP). The CP will be run like a regular CE but teams will be helped by evaluators, and training/guidance provided as needed throughout.
Teams wanting to take as a CP will need to have taken a CSST and be FSA-ready with a reliable TFR on the rubble. The CP is intended for teams not quite ready to test, but looking for experience in the testing environment and instruction on good testing strategy in preparation for their CE. The CP slots will be open to any eligible canine team, including FEMA-affiliated teams.
Pre-requisites:
- Teams must be affiliated with an established US&R organization
- All teams must have passed a Foundation Skills Assessment (Type 2) within 6 months of the CE
- All canines must be 18 months of age at the time of the test
